Gresham Fire & Emergency Services The new Fire Chief will join a community-driven organization with a rich history of providing exceptional service and a tradition of excellence in serving citizens. Gresham Fire is a fast-paced fire and EMS department that covers 60+ square miles and serves more than 150,000 people. Currently, the department provides services from seven fire stations, including one shared with Portland Fire and Rescue. Because of our diverse response area, Gresham Fire is equipped to respond to a wide variety of calls for service. Gresham Fire has specialty units that provide services including:
• Advanced Life Support EMS first response with no transport
• Technical Rescue
• Regional Hazardous Materials Team
• Rescue Swimmers and Rescue Divers
• Boat and Swift Water Rescue
• Confined Space Entry and Rescue
• Urban Search and Rescue
• Tactical Support Medics (SWAT)
• Gresham CARES (Community Assistance Response) program
Gresham enjoys a positive labor management relationship with its IAFF Local 1062. The new Fire Chief will build on this existing climate to collaborate together on future service delivery systems.
Gresham Fire is an adaptable, hard-working and proud department led by the Fire Chief, an Operations Chief, an Administrative Chief and three Battalion Chiefs. The line personnel are resourceful, dedicated and skilled, with a tremendous desire to constantly improve the quality of service they provide to the citizens. GFES employs administrative staff, Life Safety staff (conducting Fire Marshal services and inspections), a Training Officer, an Emergency Medical Services Officer and emergency operations staff.
